Seacam Design
Seacam silver
The silver surface technology makes it possible to eliminate varnished chip-prone surfaces with a salt-water resistant double hardened and compressed aluminum casting, combining innovation with impeccable machine work. Modern production methods are utilized in conjunction with hand finishing, making each Seacam housing a work of art.
Seacam design
Seacam housings are designed to fit the palm of the hand, with controls falling naturally to the fingertips. The underwater buoyancy is slightly negative; as it should be so as to avoid floating away, yet light enough to avoid fatiguing the photographer. The ergonomic design of the individual operating elements is contrived so that hands rarely need be removed from the grips, unless one-handed operation is preferred.

Exact focus and shutter release is achieved with the thumb and index finger. Aperture controls operate either via a subcommand dial or precise lens gearing. Distance and zoom work via easy to mount lens gears. All of the important and sensible camera settings are adjustable via external controls and clearly visible camera displays.

Precision seal
The double O-ring seal on all control shafts is essential for watertight integrity, as is the UV and chemically resistant quality of the materials used. A 3.5mm thick main O-ring sits in a precisely machined groove. The high-grade spring-mounted quick-clasps remain under full tension, unaffected by depth and pressure considerations.
Simple, accurate camera mounting
The quick, accurate camera mount system is achieved by means of a precisely machined camera base and three point bearing. A captive tripod screw fixes the camera in place, and changing film can be done without dismounting the camera from housing. An elegant black textile fiber coating on the inside protects the camera from extraneous light bouncing around and traps errant drops of water so they don't slide about.

Viewfinders
SLR Vision made easy
In order to see exactly what you are photographing, Seacam underwater housings are equipped with a variety of viewfinder systems. The standard pro optic show, despite the eye relief required by the dive mask, a clear image of the viewfinder and LED panel, making composition and focus efficient and comfortable.

Utilizing integrated Gallilei optics, the standard viewfinder provides a full view edge-to-edge with only a slight reduction in magnification. When changing films the Seacam viewfinder optic need not be removed, and thus can not be lost.

Housings designed for use with actionfinders (like the Nikon F5) use a glass viewfinder window that lies directly at the viewfinder display and provide an optimal view. The viewfinder port is made of optically coated mineral glass. Switching between the standard pro finder and the special swivel 45-degree finder is easy and requires no tools to accomplish.

Swivel 45-degree sportsfinder
A Seacam exclusive, this unique 45-degree sportsfinder extends the viewfinder image to a magnified 1:1 perspective. The view is brilliant, intense, and right-reading top to bottom and left to right.

The 45-degree angle is an invaluable advantage in that it allows the photographer to view and compose in a normal swimming position without craning the neck. The slightly elevated angle is safer for the environment in that it minimizes reef contact.

The swivel capability makes it simple to decide whether to shoot vertical or horizontal, and may be locked into any of 4 positions (or used at any point in the 360-degree swivel). For those who need specific vision correction, the viewfinder is easily adjusted over a +/- 3 diopter range.

Finally, the extended relief from the S45 finder allows room so the regulator does not hit the back of the housing. Looking for a way to shoot over/unders without putting your head in the water? Only with the Seacam S45 viewfinder is this possible.

Port Systems
Intersection
A large range of lenses is essential for discriminating photographers. The front glass is measure and intersection for perfect images. The SEACAM front port system has been standard for excellent photos for many years. The first-class system is more than manifold. Flat ports for 35 mm to 200 mm lenses and fully corrected dome ports for wide angle lenses down to 20 mm are as brilliant underwater as ports for fisheye and superwideangle lenses. A further great challenge are over-under photos. For that purpose, SEACAM offers a special port. Constant highquality images are guaranteed by specially matching, optically neutral, and hardened mineral glasses. The sort of glass used for this purpose is most finely ground and polished to give the ultimate transmittance of light, which ensures first-class picture quality.
Optical coating - highest brilliance
We cannot imagine optical elements without high-quality coating which definitely contributes to reflex-free SEACAM front glasses and their unique contrast. For that reason all front glasses can be coated upon request. The perfect correction and proper choice of the front glass allow to do almost without close up lenses. Thus there will be no optical impairment of your high-quality lenses. For lenses which require a diopter for optical reasons we offer it with optical coating.
Simple change of ports
Developed by SEACAM for the first time, the safe screw thread and the popular bayonet were combined to a sensible unit. Front ports are manufactured of high-grade plastic or seawater-resistant aluminium and are radially O-ring sealed. The exchange of ports is simple and quick. The bayonet thread pulls the O-ring with only one revolution swiftly into the sealed face and positions the port exactly by stroke. The overlap is a full 360° and thus guarantees the highest extent of safety.
Flat port - zoom port - macro port
All ports offered for that purpose are equipped with a highly transparent, plane front glass and guarantee optimum results. They are suitable from the standard 35 mm lens via different zoom lenses up to the 200 mm macro lens. Ø 4 inch
Systemport
This is a combination of front port with port extensions for several lenses (AF 60, AF 105, AF 200, AF 70-180). Distance adjustment can be done directly at the system port at some cameras. Ø 4 inch
Domeport
The smallest dome offers you brilliant, clear photos for fixed focal distances of 24 - 28 mm wide angle lenses and superwide angle zoom lenses. For all those purposes we also have suitable diopters in first-class coating quality in our delivery programme. Ø 4 inch
Wideport
Specially designed for 20 mm wide-angle lenses, this port brings extraordinary clear pictures with full image angle and practically no distortion at the edges. With its handy size of 160 mm in diameter this dome port is also suitable for shorter focal distances. Ø 5.5 inch
Fisheyeport
Best image quality for 15, 16 mm fisheye lenses with a real angle of view of 180° on the diagonal. A precisely ground hemisphere is the prerequisite for inspiring, unique perspectives. Ø 6 inch
Superdome
Unique world-wide and unequalled for its image quality is the SEACAM SD superdome. With its 240 mm in diameter it is the largest dome port. Its superdome, ground from highly transparent optical mineral glass, captivates with tremendous picture quality and brilliance. Its excellent depth of sharpness with 18 mm lenses is as outstanding as its absolutely perfect image quality for overunder photos with 14, 15, 16 and 18 mm lenses. Ø 9 inch
Port extension
Available in several lengths, it allows an extension of the ports. This enables you to adjust lenses of different lengths individually or to use converters. Since you can combine it with other ports you save weight and space on journeys by plane.
Gears
We supply the suitable gears for a great variety of lenses for setting the aperture, distance, focus and zoom. All gears can be mounted easily and simply, for a perfect fit with O-rings or in variable design with tangential locking screw, and are made from high-grade plastic.
Accessories for front ports
The useful accessories comprise plastic caps for the front glass of flat ports, as well as neoprene protection caps, simply detachable underwater, for all wide angle ports and protection caps for housings and ports.

Strobes and Arms
*New!* Seacam Seaflash 250 ... Custom designed for Digital Imaging!
Underwater Strobes
The Seaflash is a new generation for submersible strobe, complete with a sturdy aluminum cast housing enclosing sophisticated electronics supplied by Subtronic, one of Europe's leading electronics innovators. Power comes from Nicad batteries. Charging is accomplished in two -hours or less, and a battery capacity display with LEDs lets the photographer know how much power remains. An undervoltage circuit breaker prevents total discharge, eliminating potential damage to the Nicad power source.

There are 3 performance classes of the Seacam Seaflash, but common features on each strobe include TTL exposure, textured reflector, a glass dome, slave and signal flash function, automatic charger. A pilot (model) light that may be dimmed by 60% is available. When working with shy, reclusive fish, this combination auto-focus assist and aiming light may be the only way to get the shot.

There are 2 operating modes to assure precise exposure in both TTL automatic and manual settings. Ergonomic rotary switches are illuminated to provide correct operation even in the dark. In manual there are 7 power levels in steps of one aperture each, and in TTL up to 3 different TTL systems with automatic recognition systems may be built-in. A ready light is visible through the camera viewfinder, and with a quick 2.5-second recycle time, photo-ops will not be lost due to slow recycle.

Strobe color
Temperature: The combination of a tinted, color corrected flashtube, textured reflector, and dome glass create natural colors in the underwater environment. There is even an innovative color temperature control controller as an option, allowing any color temperature between 4300 degrees K and 5200 degrees K to be selected. Shooting a peacock flounder on white sand from 6 inches away, dial in a cool color temperature. Shooting a fair skinned model with wide-angle 3 feet away, work at the warm end of the spectrum. A simple yet invaluable concept, executed with elegance and creativity.
Flash Arm System
An infinitely variable retention force, from 0 to 12 Nm, and a weight less than 500 grams, make the Seacam flash arm a robust accessory. With a patented articulated brake disk technology, the retention force easily holds heavy strobes in position, even out of the water. Underwater, adjustments are quick and accurate, and the hollow, tubular design provides added buoyancy. Various length arms segments can be combined to handle both wide angle and macro imaging demands. Adapters are available for various makes of strobe head, and for those who enjoy the creative control of a hand-held strobe, there is even an ergonomic shooting grip.

Connector Systems
A variety of connector ports and synch cables provide access to strobe and camera electronic data reliably. These include:
S6 flash socket system
A Seacam exclusive, the S6 plug connector provides 6 sturdy, plated pins with a quad O-ring seal and an unbreakable curled cable.
N5 Nikonos V connector
As standard equipment for most housings, the conventional Nikonos V has been used on Seacam products for decades. The plug is safer by the use of dual O-rings, and special spring-mounted contacts are available on the housings for those who may wish to use Nikonos, Ikelite, or Sea and Sea strobes.
